Gigha to Oban 11 July 2022

At rest in the Oban transit marina

Set off from Gigha at 10.30 to catch the tide north, aiming for Croabh Haven if they had room for us (they didn’t) or on up to Oban.  Very calm, but again quite a grey day, sometimes warm, sometimes not so.  We kept a look out for cetaceans all the way but to no avail.

The tidal currents at the north end of the Sound of Jura were quite impressive, making our autopilot work hard - but it coped admirably (apart from a couple of aberrations), even through the very tight Sound of Luing.

When we got to Oban we tried to get into Kerrera Marina, but they had no space for a boat of our size, so we headed across to the Oban transit marina where there was plenty of room.  Got a space on the inside of their big outer pontoon.  Lovely spot.

Mary rustled up a sophisticated 😜 dinner of chicken satay which we had aboard, followed by a few games of Sequence - we’ll not mention who won!
